RINIMC Charter High School

The Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School, located in Providence, opened during the summer of 2011 to educate the next generation of nurses with a focus on academic rigor, leadership development, and workforce readiness. We are the first public charter high school in the U.S. focused on the nursing profession and the first middle college in the State of RI.  RI students from any school district may apply.

How RINIMC is different?

  • 4-year program starting at the 9th grade
  • Students take college courses from RI area colleges and universities
  • Saves students money on college tuition

NursesMC students are afforded a rigorous high school curricula, early college classes, and exposure to the nursing profession. Students entering the 9th grade are allowed to enroll as first year students after successfully completing their 8th grade year at another school. Students who are successful in their first and second years take a combination of high school and college courses at area colleges and universities such as the University of RI, Rhode Island College, Community College of RI, and Roger Williams University. After 4 years in our program, students are able to transfer as many as 20 college credits towards their nursing college major.

NursesMC pays for the early college courses empowering its students by lowering the overall cost of their education. Early college exposure orientates students to the demands of higher education and increases the likelihood of college graduation.
